Training Institute for Teachers of the Visually Handicapped:

The Institute is affiliated to the Calcutta University and imparts degree ofB.Ed. in Special Education (Visual Impairment). The course is approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi; and, is sponsored by the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disability, Dehradun. The two-year course trains a total of around 60 male and female persons to teach visually impaired school-going children. The teachers trained at the Institute are engaged to teach in special schools and regular ‘inclusive’ schools.

The Institute regularly hosts the Teachers’ Refresher course and the Continued Rehabilitation Education course for teachers already employed at private, government and government-sponsored schools in West Bengal.Some of them are from other states also.
