Purple Fair at RKMBBA

Narendrapur, 03 December 2025: The Purple Fair, organised to commemorate the International Day for Persons with
Disabilities, concluded today at Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur, earning widespread
appreciation for its meaningful celebration of inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment.

Opening Ceremony: The programme commenced with Vedic Chanting performed by the students of Blind Boys’
Academy. The serene recitation created a sacred atmosphere, setting a tone of purity, peace, and auspiciousness for the
day-long celebrations. The theme song ‘All power is within you’ that composed and sung by Dr. Arup Biswas, Ex-
Professor of History of RKMRC along with the students of Blind Boys’ Academy.

Significance of the Purple Fair: The colour purple stands as a global symbol of disability rights, dignity, equality,
and empowerment. The Purple Fair aims to promote awareness, break social barriers, and offer a dignified platform
where children and persons with disabilities can showcase their talents, creativity, and achievements. It serves as a
reminder that societies grow stronger when they embrace diversity and uphold the rights and dignity of all individuals.
Event Highlights: The day featured an impressive range of cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops, and
competitive sports events for the blind like Swimming, Chess, Cricket, Football, Judo, Elocution (for all).
